Feminine hygiene question.. (ladies please help me out!)?

I got my very first yeast infection about two/three days ago. I recently just got off antibiotics and the medicine basically provoked my body into getting a yeast infection, since I wasn't replenishing the necessary bacteria in my body (ie: I wasn't eating enough yogurt). Anyway, now I'm paying the price. Again, I've never had one before, and I was extremely over-whelmed with the symptoms.

I used Monistat 1, the one dose treatment 2 days ago. Today most of the treatment leaked out and I got horrible itching/burning pains for a few hours. However now its not as bad but its still extremely sensitive to the touch. Should I take another Monistat treatment (like a three dose treatment) instead, because maybe the one I took didn't work, or should I wait a while to see if it clears up? I was told sometimes it takes a few days for the symptoms to go away... is there anyone out there who has been through this or has any advice about this? Thanks!

  1. I am a CMA

You need to go on a full dosage of a heavy antibiotic and so you are aware not eating enough yogurt has nothing to do with getting or not getting a yeast infection..

If monistat is not working you have something other than a yeast infection.. See your GYNO NOW!!!!

  2. I too had that happin after a dose of antibiotics. Eat lots of yogurt and call the doc.

They have a pill called Diflucan (fluconazole) that you take.

    Good luck :/

  3. Your doctor can give a pill that will clear it up.  It is one dose and you're done.

  4. Call your MD, he can write a one time prescription that can solve al your symptoms.
