  1. Any non-applicator tampon. They have one or two less parts, so less pacaging, so less waste, plus they're lighter so more efficient in shipping, and no there's no need for adhesive like napkins.

  2. The most environmentally friendly has to be Mooncups or Menstrual sponges.

  3. Cherokee hair tampons....sorry couldn't resist.

It's just a joke from south park.

  4. Disposable - organic cotton based pads/tampons, cardboard applicator tampons, or applicator free ob tampons

NONdisposable - It's called a Diva Cup; it literally is a collection cup that can be rinsed out and reused.  Info can be found at www.divacup.com

Environmentally FRIENDLY but a little yick.

  5. So many great anwers. I'm afraid this is one thing that I just let go to the landfill. I do try to minimize the packaging. I use OB tampons, they don't have an applicator, so less waste. I try to find pads and panty liners that aren't individually wrapped. I will be looking into more eco friendly brands when it is time to restock.

I try to never flush any sanitary items, they end up in the landfill anyway, so why make the waste water treatment plant deal with them too.

  6. Seventh generation has

Cholorine-free Organic Cotton Tampons and is packaged in 100% recycled paper. The only place I have found them is at Akins natural foods store. You can go to www.seventhgeneration.com and look up a location nearest you.

  7. Trader Joes has some that they sell near the soap. They are actually really good in my opinion, and they are a bit less than the stuff that they sell at anyold market

  8. I have a tilted cervix and can't use a tampon, I use 7th generation pads, I find them at our local natural food coop.  I agree though that a cotton tampon with no applicator is best though if you can wear one
