  1. Classical feminist for sure.   I've been around a long time and have seen a lot of changes.

  2. This forum has standards?

    Who knew??

  3. None of the above.  I do my own thing and I don't care what the others are doing.

  4. Hm, probably 'modassical'.

  5. Congratulations, Rio, this question's hilarious!  How on earth can absolute decadence be "classical"?  The species of rot called feminism is invariably and thoroughly "modern."

Take 2/ The classical movement is essentially an arts movement, not a social movement.  While classicism comprises works as diverse as Sophocles' tragedies and Hank Williams' songs, it's underlying spirit is always traditionalist, conservative, masculine.  Thus classical values are a world apart from all the liberalese peasant revolts, particularly feminism.

  6. I don't consider myself to be any kind of Feminist, but if I had to I'd consider myself classical.

  7. By *this* forum's standards, about as radical as you can get, lol.

But seriously, I wonder whether 'modern' or 'classical" are essentially useful descriptions, or whether they contribute to a fragmenting of thought and direction?

I don't know how useful it is to label ourselves. Is it divisive? Or does it help us understand where we are coming from in order to achieve better dialogue?

If the latter, maybe we need some firm or clear definitions or understandings of the terms.

I mean, I see how the notion of 'radical' has been distorted by the media and popular culture, so that people think it's more about not shaving one's legs than about instituting systemic change, and I'm very cautious about adopting new labels unless I really comprehend what the other person means by them.

I'm open to new thoughts on this, just thought I'd throw it out there!

    Cheers :-)
