What if every reference to woman in VAWA was changed to man, making it VAMA? Would feminists still claim it works equally for both sexes?

  1. The act itself works for both sexes. It's just the text that needs some revising.

  2. Excellent point. It highlights the fact that most feminists seem to be unable to see that using the term 'Women' in the name of the law indicates the bias against men. If you wanted a law that protected all animals from cruelty, why call it the Violence Against Hamsters Act?

The domestic violence laws are prejudiced against men because they were promoted by feminists (see Prof Gruber's paper) based on misleading research (see Prof Kelly's paper). Even respected US judges have complained about the feminist bias of VAWA e.g. In a speech to the American Law Institute in 1998 Chief Justice Rehnquist said it was one of the more notable examples of bad law, and had previously said it was an example of “federalizing crimes for symbolic reasons” http://books.google.com/books?id=lN4VYyZ...

  3. I'm sure they wouldn't. Yet they don't understand why we're opposing VAWA. Or maybe they understand but don't want to admit that they do. The latter is most likely.

Professor Aya Gruber's research (2007 isn't too long ago) proves that VAWA was a sexist law based on twisted research (See doodlebugjim's second link).

If Jim's first link doesn't work, try this:

While men saw discrimination against women quite easily when the issue was raised and did something about it, everyone was happy. I don't understand is why feminists aren't seeing discrimination against men as easily. In fact, they don't see it at all, not matter how many times it is raised.

Equalists here post links as proof day in and day out, and have them refuted day in and day out by feminists who offer no reason why equalists are wrong. we are just wrong. In fact, people who raise men's issues get a taste of this:

If feminists don't do much, we're going to have to make changes ourselves.

  4. I somehow really doubt it. After all a good chunk of their population would end up in jail if that where the case.

  5. I uhh, already think it is a sexist law. If you changed it from women to men, my opinion of it would remain the same.
