Feminists struggle for equal rights.

Masculinists struggle for equal rights.

Both groups claim to be oppressed.

If they are both right, then both men and women are being oppressed.

So...who is doing the oppressing?

  1. we all are... collectively.  we seem to want to throw our hands up and say "what can be done?".  but really if we quit finger pointing and worked together with compassion and understanding i think we'd easily find common ground :)

  2. I'm an anti-fem and I don't recall ever complaining about being oppressed.  The difference is that I am not only concerned with my rights and well being, unlike some ideologies.....

  3. Don't look at me I never complained about being oppressed that's your bag not mine.  Wars, famine and natural disasters oppress us more than those who complain about being oppressed by certain groups of people; i.e, women being oppressed by men.

  4. I've been told from a reliable source that it's the "Rothschild's".

  5. We all are. At this point, I can't name one segment of the population in history that hasn't gotten the shaft somehow.

  6. The answer is easy when you realise that feminism is not a struggle for equality (see evidence here http://www.freewebs.com/feminism-evaluat...

Masculinists (or whatever you want to call them) are generally fighting against inequalities created by feminism.

  7. no ones being oppressed. women get treated differently because, brace yourself, they are different. same goes with men. some professions are dominated by men because they are better suited for the job. take firefighters for example. men are in general stronger than women, its just the way it is, so they often do better in the physical training and test than the women who might not be strong enough. they get the jobs because they are better at them. but some feminists wanting "equal rights" demand more women get into the fire departments. the resulting political pressure has forced some large fire departments for lower the standards for female applicants. thats not equality, thats special treatment. now if a woman can pass the same tests and physical requirements that the men had to from the beginning, by all means they should be firefighters, if not you have no business being there. i don't want some under qualified woman who cannot lift the body on an unconsciouses victim and carry them out of a burning building being responsible for other peoples lives in exactly that situation. that's stupid.

  8. I'm a modern Feminist and I just want equal rights and this is becoming so emotional for me that I need to have a drink of water so I can continue my day.  I'm constantly being oppressed (as we speak I'm being oppressed by about six men).  I'm upset this and don't want to deal with this oppression and more.

All men do is take our jobs and we are such sweet ladies that simply want a fair chance in Western society that's so oppressive.  It's shameful.

I must talk to my counselor about all the oppression I've already faced today.

  9. Perhaps they're not being oppressed in the same way:

Lower-class men suffer oppression from greedy employers/lower-class women suffer that and sexism/black men suffer this and racism/lower-class black women suffer all three.

My own conclusion is that our S****y economic structures are to blame for a lot of it, apart from sexism, maybe.

edit - Now Laela, can you really equate wars and famines with natural disasters? Someone must be behind wars and famines that aren't caused by droughts are caused by corruption and economics.

  10. That's exactly the problem with gender-based ideologies - assuming that people are being oppressed.

In Western society, the only oppression that happens is against individuals by other individuals, and those are the cases that humanists try to address.

The feminists and the masculinists just squabble with each other whilst the rest of us enjoy our freedom.
