Fencing Coaching Programme starts in Sindh: Fencing News
Under the aegis of Pakistan Fencing Federation (PFF) the fencing coaching programme, to be held in Sindh, has started in Hyderabad, on June 14.
On part of the PFF, this programme is being organised and arranged by the Punjab Fencing Association (PFA) with the joint efforts of the hosting body, Sindh Fencing Association (SFA).
A fencing delegate from Punjab, comprising of four representatives from Lahore, has gone to take care of the coaching session and also the tournament, which is to be held later on among the fencers from both the provinces.
Accompanying the delegates, 24 Punjab players have been taken along to take part in this event. These comprise of four male and four female fencers of each weapon's discipline that had undergone a one-week training before setting off for the competition.
After a two-day stop in Hyderabad, the PFA’s representatives, including Maheen and Shafqat Ali, will be heading to the next two spots, namely Sukkur and Karachi, respectively, where they will be conducting the coaching classes for two days each.
The total plan of organising the coaching session and the tournament was officially announced in a meeting held in March between the PFF and SFA.
The tournament is to be held on June 21, in Karachi at a Inter-provincial level for both male and female fencers of senior level. The competition will comprise of all weapon disciplines namely foil, sabre and epee.
The coaching programme in Sindh will be carried out by four PFA officials, which also include Shafqat Ali and Maheen. Along with the officials, players from Punjab will leave for Sindh within this week to play the tournament.
The Chief Guest of the event will be Director of Sports of Sindh, who will be present until the conclusion of the event.
According to an official, it was also learnt that Sindh Sports Board (SSB) will be conducting a meeting with the PFA officials regarding the future developmental plans for fencing within Pakistan. This meeting will be held under the ambit of Sindh Olympic
Association (SOA), for which the date is yet to be released.
