i wish to get a strat and have checked the market for acailable ones and two interest me for different reasons... the lonestar has seymore duncan humbuckers and that attracts me to it. however, it does not come with a maple neck, which i prefer(based on looks only), while the roadhouse does.unfortunately, the roadhouse has no humbuckers.which should i choose??? give up the maple neck for the rosewood?? which is better. 1. Here is a Fender Lonestar strat with seymore duncan humbuckers AND a maple neck at a really reasonable price (only $550):

  2. Hi Bugman

The Lonestar has Seymour Duncan but with a maple neck. The Roadhouse has a rosewood nect which means, more sustain and it won't need Seymour pickups to get it either. Having said this, I would get the Roadhouse, spend $65 and put a nice Seymour Duncan at tne front near the fingerboard. You will get awesome power, punchy, even more sustain and above all, it will give a good sound for arpeggios or as we call it, sweeps. They are popular in all rock and heavy metal solos.

The maple neck has a drier sound, higher treble, but compared to the fat sound of a rosewood, no competition.

  3. You can get the maple neck added to the lonestar through the Fender custom shop.  But looks should weigh very little in your choice.  I'd stick with the 'buckers - much fatter sound.
