Is the Fender Mustang a good guitar?

Why isn't it as popular as the tele or the strat?

What are it's good and bad points?

  1. Its a good guitar, the reason for its lack in popularity is:

    Electronics

Basically its 2 single coil does give it that many tone options as the strat and its pick ups don't have as much twang as the tele. It also doesn't have a pick up selector, just an on/off and phase switch.

    Aesthetics

Some people aren't a fan enough of the body shape to warrant not buying a strat.

The guitar was actually pretty popular in the 90's when sonic youth, blur, red hot chilli peppers, etc... used the guitar. Kurt Cobain actually didn't use a mustang, but a Jag-Stang, a combo of the fender jaguar and mustang.

  2. Hey.....wassup

The fender Mustang is still known but is a 3/4 size guitar and it has its own unique sound. The scale length was about 22" andlater came with the 24" scale.

The 1966 and 69 models are collectibles.

I used to own one 30 years ago and should have kept it. They have a good demand and are rare. They started in 1964 and had a good tremolo system as well.

Aside from that, the guitar plays very well, and has a very responsive neck, nice finish , good gianon the pickups as well. They are small and light weight.
