Fender Stratocaster or Epiphone Les Paul?

Question

My guitar was recently stolen from my house last week (it was a 2006 Fender Starcaster I had gotten for Christmas) and I might have to get a new one. Only this time it'll be a higher end guitar (not too expensive). So I'm wondering, which of these two Guitars should i get?

I'm leaning toward the Fender Stratocaster because the Sunburst w/Rosewood neck is what my Starcaster looked like. But I like the Epiphone Les Paul's look and I heard they have

better sound. This would either be my first Stratocaster or my first Les Paul since owning the Fender Starcaster. Any help?

I have the Epiphone Les Paul and really enjoy it and never had a problem/
