I'm gonna buy a new guitar and i have narrowed it down to a fender telecaster and a fender stratocaster (both Mexican made) and i have a couple of questions.

1.) which is better, the tele or the strat?

2.) what kind of music uses each guitar (name some artists)

3.) are mexican made guitars poor quality?

i am leaning towards the strat because jimi hendrix and RHCP used/uses it and those are my two fav. bands. i especially love jimi's sound

  1. I think both guitars are equally good and versatile. Teles have a brighter sound as compared to strats. However, there are many recordings where people mistake a tele for a strat.

Both are great for blues, although teles are more popular in country. Anyways, you can play any style with them. Just keep in mind that teles don't have a whammy bar.

    Some artists:

One of the most famous telecaster players: Albert Collins  http://www.great-guitar-players.com/Albe...

    Keith Richards

    Some famous strat players:

    - Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Mark Knopfler, Robert Cray, Buddy Guy. The list is endless

As for the Mexican fenders. They're very good value for your money. They're made with US made materials, only assembled in Mexico. I have tried many, and I don't have any complains yet for Mexican made fenders.

  2. my boyfriend has a strat and loves it. i would go with that one. his guitar is not poor quality. it's just a version of an expensive one made in mexico to save money.

  3. I would go play both, personally I would get the tele. It's the ultimate blues guitar and is extremely versitile, good for just about everything but metal. But you should def. play both before you buy, and the mexican instruments are usually fine quality. I played my buddys mexican strat after I fixed it for him (he threw it across a room, not the guitars fault) and it played awsome.
