Question:

Fender squire strat question?

a fender squire fell in my lap and i'm wondering if i should consider replacing the neck and electronics. it's a decent guitar and holds its tune. it would be great for a beginner, but you know, it frets out 12th fret up, (when you bend the strings). it's a chaeapo guitar. it does have a rosewood neck on it. what should i do with this piece of c**p? put it in the fireplace or what?

can you just put heavier strings on it with a different bridge, or what? thank you. jim

  1. I would recommend replacing the neck with Warmoth "Pro" Replacement Strat neck. I can't tell you details because it is up to the player of the guitar to choose wood, tuner hole sizes, etc., but i would recommend just plain maple with rosewood fingerboard, and buying seperately a graphtech nut, and some locking tuners. this should add up to about $240. if that is too much, just replace the whole guitar. it is cheaper to buy electronics in a guitar, instead installing custom.
