Question:

Feng Shui: How should I compromise?

My room is not conducive to Feng Shui. I'd like to rearrange it according to Feng Shui (it is a good way to decorate, it promotes peace). However, if I put my bed in the farthest diagonal from the door, then I will have a window there. I know that I'm not supposed to put the bed against the window. So, should I keep it on that wall, and move it by the window, or put it on a different wall (I wouldn't be facing the door anymore if I put it against another wall)...What is more important, to be facing the door (but not directly, I know), or to be against a wall with no windows. Which one should I give up?

  1. This is a bit of a tricky room.  Many of my clients have had this same problem - closet or window or door in a spot that does not allow for good bed placement.  Solution: put your bed where you can see the door (sitting up in bed), and do your best not to have your feet pointing directly out of the door (sometimes a few inches right or left can make the difference).  If you end up with the window behind you, then you can add a screen or a heavy headboard to add the support needed (the point of the wall behind the bed is for support and stability).  Also: remember there are several schools of feng shui.  Some use "best directions".  Others don't.  It can get confusing, I know!

  2. i care about fengshui. but most people want a quick fix. and fengshui is not about quick fixes.

i think the best thing that you can do is buy a book about flying stars technique by eva wong or by joey yap. i think they are available at amazon.com

flying stars is simple, yet it is enough to be powerful to attract money, give you good health and lessen accidents in the house. in flying stars, you need to measure the facing degree of your main front door (where most of the chi comes in), then use this to "fly the stars" or plotting the flying star chart of your house. this chart will reveal which areas have good chi and which has bad chi. of course, you use the areas with good chi for living like bedroom and living room, and leave the areas with bad chi for storage and toilets.

in fengshui, movements can activate chi, which can manifest or happen in reality. thus, we use the areas with good chi, so that the good chi or energy will become a reality in your life. it is also important that the stairs have good chi, so the more you use your stairs (movement), the more good will happen in your life. stairs can be tricky, because you need it to face a particular direction, so that it will bring the good chi from below upward. smae thing goes with the kitchen, which is responsible for attracting money and providing you with a successful career.

it is difficult to talk about specifics because there are many charts in period 8 alone, and many configurations that you can do.

fengshui is not as easy as painting your room a certain color, nor it is arranging your furnitures a certain way - these do not work at all.

fengshui is really about understanding the fengshui techniques and using them towards your advantage.

  3. You should give priority to your favorable directions. Once you know them, choose the one that best fits in your bedroom. There is no perfect room to place the bed and it is not always possible to consider main guidelines such as not to face the door etc.

I always choose one of my favorable directions and had once only the choice to sleep beyond the window. So I did and it all was perfect. I just made sure to close the curtains.

You can check your favorable directions here and choose which would be best for you:
