Fenglin Zhang captures Men’s 200m backstroke gold – 2012 Chinese National Swimming Championships
Fenglin Zhang of Shandong captured gold medal of the Men’s 200m backstroke on fourth day of the 2012 Chinese National Long Course Swimming Championships in Huangshan, Anhui Province on Wednesday, September 26.
Zhang lived up to the expectations of his supporters on final day of the championship as he dominated the opening event of the session.
With his immaculate efforts in the final round, Zhang faced no trouble in securing gold medal of the distant backstroke event.
He remained prominently away from his opponents from the start and paved his way to the finishing wall for gold medal.
With his persistent efforts in the four-lap discipline, he enjoyed a lead of three body lengths over his opponent and clocked a nice time of 1 minute and 56.36 seconds for gold medal.
The gold medallist was followed by Jiayu Xu of Zhejiang, who was nearly three seconds behind and surfaced on the wall as second position holder by reporting a time of 1 minute and 59.26 seconds.
The silver medallist was chased by Jigong Diao of Chinese Navy, who stayed 1.24 seconds slower from his foregoing competitor and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 00.50 seconds for bronze medal.
Following that, the audience witnessed gruelling efforts of Rong Fan of Guangzhou Army in the Women’s 200m breaststroke. Fan demonstrated her astonishing efforts and managed to edge out her competitor over the finishing wall by producing a time of 2 minutes
and 28.33 seconds.
The gold medallist was traced by Jinglin s**+ of Jiangsu, who was 0.20 seconds apart and touched the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 28.53 seconds for second position.
s**+ was trailed by Hongjiao Liu of Shandong, who stayed almost half body length away from overpowering her former finisher and transpired on the victory stand as third best finisher by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 29.02 seconds.
In addition, Zhang and Fan received a huge round of applause from the audience for their undisputed efforts and addressed their fans by saying that they would work hard to accomplish the same in forthcoming events.
