The English defender has rebuffed the F.A charges of racist conduct and claims that the term he used is not being understood properly.
Following a lengthy trial that involved his brother, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173 made a comment on the social networking site Twitter that threatened to start the debate all over again.
In defence of Terry, his teammate at Stamford Bridge http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Cole-c6809 was called to the court where he gave overwhelming evidence that eventually cleared the centre-back. However, United star Ferdinand called him a ‘choc-ice’, somebody he labels as fake or an
imposter.
Though his ‘Tweet’ hasn’t incurred Cole’s wrath, the F.A are far from pleased and have launched a tirade of allegations against him and are now charging him for improper conduct.
After the whole matter was made public, most people came in support of Ferdinand, who seems to be innocent as demonstrated by his conduct both on and off the pitch.
According to a statement made by the F.A, he has acted in a manner which not sanctioned by the game’s authority and that he made references to the player’s origins as well as skin colour.
"The allegation is that the player acted in a way which was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute by making comments which included a reference to ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race."
Racism’s ugly head has been lifted several times in the past year and all in all it has been a sad year for English football. Nonetheless, Ferdinand was keen to present his justification on Twitter and claimed that people at the F.A were misunderstanding
what he said in the first place.
"What I said is not a racist term. It is a type of slang (or) term used by many for someone who is being fake. So there,” the veteran stopper was quoted as saying.
Things are likely to escalate with the media coverage in the proceedings, but considering that Ferdinand has no prior history of such behavior and because he has clarified his position on the matter, the saga should not last long.
