Following City’s win, United went on to lose the title in a manner of minutes, with City’s superior goal difference helping them go on and win the league.
Ferdinand, when talking about the last day of the season and the fact that his side lost the league title is reported to have said: “It’s a cruel way to have lost the league”
“But you have to congratulate the other team. Any team that wins the league deserves it, and they’ve played well during the season.”
“It’s about dusting ourselves down and making sure that we win the title back next season."
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson also admitted that he was rather disappointed with the way the season ended for his team. This is considering the fact that United had an eight point lead over City with just a couple of games left to play.
When talking about how the season ended for his side and just how he found out who had won the league, the Red Devils boss went on to state: “I got the word in the game that City had scored and made it two each. Then our game finished and it went flat into
silence, with everyone just waiting”
“Then the cheers from the home supporters let us know that City had scored and the title had gone to them. It’s disappointing.”
United will now have to come back stronger then before in the coming season, as the team looks to claim their twentieth league title.
