Manchester United’s defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-Scholes-c29394, as he believes the veterans have been the source of inspiration for the club this season.
Scholes had gone on to call it quits on his career at the end of last season, but with his team in need of a midfielder, he decided to come out of retirement and play on for the team.
On the other hand, Giggs never really left the club and had been consistently impressing, despite being thirty eight years old.
Ferdinand believes that the two players have been motivating him with their performances and have given his assurance that he can carry on for as long as his body lets him.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international is thirty three years old and was considering retiring due to some injury concerns, however, it seems like watching the veterans at the club has changed his mind.
When talking about Scholes and Giggs and revealing just how they have inspired them, Ferdinand is quoted to have said: “They are an inspiration to people like me.
“I’m 33 now and have been at the club 10 years.
“You see someone like Scholes, who is 37, and Giggs, who is even older, and you think to yourself that, hopefully, you can get to those levels in terms of both age and playing at the very top.
“But I think your body is the defining factor, telling you whether you can or can’t play at that level any more. Fingers crossed, my body holds up and I’ve another few years left in me.”
He then admitted that going to the Euro 2012 with the Premier League crown would be one of the biggest highlights of his career, since he had never gone to a European Championship with the Premier League crown.
“I’ve been to World Cups but never to a European Championship. So to finish the season with a title winner’s medal and then go to the Euros, it would be the icing on the cake.”
