Fergal O’Brien looking to make an appearance in 2011-12 PTC Grand Finals
Top potters from around the world will gather at the Bailey Allen Hall in Galway, Ireland to take part in the 2012 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Grand Final.
Ireland’s Fergal O’Brien is the only local player who will be potting on the baize. He is looking forward to bring the PTC glory home after winning the championship. The tournament will commence from March 14 to 18 at the venue.
The Baby-Faced O’Brien has been a consistent player throughout the current season despite the fact that he was not able to win any major event. However, being the only player from the host country, he must be thinking to play at his best and keep the PTC
cup at home. Almost all the tickets have been sold out for the championship where snooker fans from across the world will watch all top dogs of snooker.
O’Brien also hailed the legendary Steve Davis and darts veteran Phil Taylor for their contributions to the sports. With his improvement from World Number 37 to World Number 30 spot, O’Brien has grabbed a lot of confidence and believes he can win a couple
of major snooker events to lift his name up in the rankings.
Speaking to the World Snooker, O’Brien said, “If you told me now that I won't win another one, I'd be heart-broken. I'm not sure I would continue playing. I'm really looking forward to the event in Galway. It will be a great venue and I can't wait for it
- hopefully the Irish support will carry me through.”
The Assassin added, “I've still got the desire and hunger that I always had and I've got a lot more knowledge of the game. Physically I'm fitter than I've ever been, I do a lot of running now and even won an 800m race at my athletic club. You don't often
see Fergal O'Brien and fast in the same sentence!”
The Grand Final of PTC will feature the likes of reigning World Snooker Champion, Scotland’s John Higgins, 2012 German Masters champion Ronnie O’Sullivan, 2011 UK Championship winner Judd Trump, World Number one Mark Selby, 2012 Welsh Open champion Ding
Junhui, 2012 World Open winner Mark Allen, former World Snooker Champions Mark Williams, Neil Robertson and Graeme Dott and the 2012 Snooker Shootout winner Barry Hawkins.
