Ferguson Is Not Thinking About Retiring From Football
Sir Alex Ferguson, the manager of Manchester United, has recently surpassed Sir Matt Busby to become the longest serving manager of the club. Ferguson’s career at Manchester United is stretched over a period of 24 years, one month
and three weeks. However, the 69-year-old manager is still not thinking about retiring from his job at Old Trafford.
There was a time when Ferguson was looking to take a retirement but he went back on his decision. Although, there was no apparent reason for Ferguson’s decision but it proved fruitful as United won another three titles and one
Champions League crown after that. This is a clear indication that Ferguson still has what is required to manage a team and be successful at the job. Therefore, despite being the oldest manager in Barclays Premier League, Ferguson still wants to continue in
his capacity at Manchester United.
In an interview Ferguson said that he was worried about retirement but he would keep going as long as he remains healthy and fit. There are no health issues being faced by the manager so the retirement ideas are not coming to his
mind. However, there has been a talk around the football circles, regarding Ferguson’s future and the names are being suggested as his possible replacement.
In his whole career at Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson has produced a legacy which would not be easy to follow after his retirement. During his tenure, he has won 11 BPL titles, 5 FA Cup titles and 2 Champions League titles,
along with other honours and trophies. Apart from this, Ferguson has managed 1,358 matches for United, winning 801 and drawing another 317, with the winning percentage of around 60%. This is a record unprecedented in the history of English football and this
makes Ferguson one of the greatest of the game.
Even in this season, the Welsh manager has shown no signs of weakness. He still remains the best in the league, as Manchester United sits on top of the table with a chance to increase their lead with some matches in hand. The team
has lost some unnecessary points but it had remained unbeaten in the league and in Europe as well. Even in this season, Ferguson has been better than all his contemporaries, including the big clubs of Premier League. The Manchester United boss has shown his
tactical and psychological superiority over other managers and remains the best in this part of the world.
The great thing about this season is that Ferguson has done it with a weaker squad. At the beginning of the season, there were cries of improving the squad but the manager had different ideas in mind. He retained most of his players
and bought only a couple of youngsters but is still able to get favourable results. Apart from this, Ferguson has successfully transformed a couple of his players this season, i.e. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254. These two players have turned into the match-winners
from being the average players.
During his whole stay at Manchester United, he was seldom involved in serious controversies, due to which he was able to retain his position. However, this season Ferguson showed a sign that could be taken as a fact that the manager
is getting weaker mentally. Ferguson had never allowed any player to show disrespect to him or his club. There are incidents in the past where Ferguson fired many http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Beckham-c10432 and the big centre-half
Jaap Stam.
Nevertheless, Ferguson is staying at Manchester United and it is great news for the club. There is no doubt that when Ferguson leaves no one in the world would be able to follow him, not even Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola. Therefore,
it is better for the club to make the best of the remaining days of their manager and hope that he would bring some more trophies before he finally retires from football.
