Manchester United’s manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson has gone on to admit that his side were the weaker team in the game against Athletic Bilbao and that they deserved to lose.
United went into their game with Bilbao, after suffering a three goals to two loss in the first leg at Old Trafford.
Despite the Premier League side looking to make a name for themselves in the game, they failed to do so, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcos-c23772 went on to score for the Spanish club.
Wayne Rooney got a goal back for the Red Devils, but that was nothing more than a consolation for their troubles.
Following the game, Ferguson was asked whether his side deserved to lose the game and the manager, went on to admit that his side were indeed the weaker team over the two legs.
The manager then hailed Bilbao and their spirit, as he hoped for the team to do well in the tournament.
The manager is quoted to have said: "Yeah I think so. I don’t think we can complain. They got a really soft goal in the first-half to put them ahead. It was the last thing we wanted. I couldn’t believe we lost the goal.”
"I thought it was pretty even in the first-half, we did quite well.”
"At the start of the second-half they did every well. They could have scored two or three goals. Towards the end we had a bit of impetus with the goal [from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736] but not enough to get us anywhere near."
At the moment, United are now out of every competition that they were a part of. The team now needs to focus on maintaining their one point lead at the top of the Premier League.
Manchester City are in the same situation as United at the moment and should both the teams now focus on winning the league, their game on the 30th of April could prove to be the title decider.
Nonetheless, Ferguson is bound to make a number of changes to his team at the end of the season, since the Red Devils need a lot of additions to their current squad, if they are to compete in Europe next season.
