Manchester United’s manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson has admitted that Athletic Bilbao were by far the better team in the Europa League clash and deserved to win the game at the end of the ninety minutes.
United went on to take the lead in the game and seemed to be on course to win the game with ease. However, two goals from Bilbao went on to change the way things were going.
In the dying stages of the game, Bilbao were awarded a penalty after Patrice Evra’s shoe came off. With United assuming the ball would be played back to his side, the Spaniards went on to score a third away goal.
However, the Red Devils were awarded another penalty just minutes later and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 went on to convert once again, as he reduced the deficit to his teams loss, with the final score reading three goals to two in favour of the La Liga side.
Ferguson, when talking about his sides performance in the game, while talking about Bilbao’s approach is quoted to have said: "We were well beaten, Bilbao were the better team"
"I thought our defending really wasn’t very good tonight, that kept us on the back foot all the time."
The manager then went on to claim that his side attacked rather well on occasions during the game, but still insisted that his side would have to go all out in the coming game at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011.
He continued: "Our attacking play was very good at times. It was a really open match, an entertaining match. On the night Bilbao were the better team.”
"We can win the game [at Bilbao next week], I don’t think there’s any question about that, we showed tonight that we can make chances against them.”
"Obviously we’re going to have to defend better, that goes without saying.”
United really need to step their game up in their next match against the Spanish side, since the team is currently on the brink of falling out of a second European competition in the span of a solitary season. Should this happen, it would indicate a new
low for the team.
