The Manchester United manager claims that he will alternate between http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anders-Lindegaard-c5553 for the goalkeeping role, as they both don’t have enough experience.
Fergie’s decision to field Lindegaard in the weekend game against Wigan did not go down well with some supporters, who claimed that De Gea was worthy of a starting role, after impressing during the business end of last season.
However, the Spaniard failed to emulate his earlier displays and like his early days at the club flapped when direct crosses were bombarded in the box. His subsequent failure to rid the defenders of unwanted pressure against Fulham resulted in a goal and
led to his relegation to the bench when the Reds visited Southampton.
Although talented, Lindegaard is simply not as skilled like his colleague, but what he lacks in ability, he more than makes up for in confidence and reading of the game.
While Ferguson has had illustrious shot-stoppers gracing the Theatre of Dreams, not since last year has someone like Edwin Van Der Sar been named in the starting line-up, hence the coach has come up with a new plan.
According to the tactician he will be rotating between the current duo on a need-to-need basis until they have gathered sufficient experience to battle the pressure on their own.
"The most important thing I'm trying to achieve is experience of the English game,” he said.
"They are both young and don't have the experience of an Edwin van der Sar or Peter Schmeichel so alternating is not a problem for me. That's the policy I have been adopting and I'm comfortable with it,” the former Aberdeen boss was quoted as saying to the
media.
United claimed three points over the Premier League weekend with a lot of personnel to spare. But faced with a tough task of matching Galatasaray today, the 19-time English champions will need to be on their toes if they are to get a positive result at home.
And securing the vital win will be down to either Lindegaard or De Gea, with the latter having the benefit of an extended rest as well as previous European experience with Atletico Madrid.
