Manchester United manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson believes that his sides win over Tottenham Hotspur proves just what the team is capable of and admits that the win could see his side overtake Manchester City in the title race.
United took on Tottenham in one of their most challenging fixtures of the season. However, despite Tottenham dominating the game, the Red Devils went on to beat their opponents by three goals to nil, as they made short work of the North London club.
When asked whether his side were back in the title race because of the way the team’s results had been going, Ferguson responded by stating: “I think it’s difficult to say because anything can happen. You can drop surprise points.”
However, the United boss feels that both teams are bound to drop points sooner, rather than later. Hence, it was just a matter of trying to minimize the number of points dropped, in order to maintain the pressure on the league leaders.
“I think that’ll happen, both teams will drop points, but the important thing is not dropping as many as your opponent and we’re experienced, we won’t get nervous, we’re enjoying it and the battling performance we gave today against a very good team tells
you that we’re well up for it.”
Ferguson also went on to hail his team, since they have played a number of big matches in recent weeks, but almost always went on to come out on top.
He then went on to add: “Since January we’ve played all the big teams – City in the cup, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in the cup and league, Arsenal”
“We’ve had a real busy spell and we’ve come through.”
Despite United not playing the best football in recent weeks, the team has really gone on to prove that they are capable of winning just about any game.
Against Tottenham, United were being dominated time and time again, but they still went on to pick up a very comfortable three goals to nil win.
Should United continue to perform in this manner, they could potentially go on and win the Premier League title at the end of the season.
