The veteran manager claims that United are not plotting a winter switch for the Colombian International, adding that a transfer with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 was always an expensive bargain.
Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson was long touted to be an admirer of James Rodriguez but according to the latest reports, that switch might never come into fruition with the coach revealing otherwise.
The Red Devils have struggled immensely because of Luis Nani’s tepid displays on the left and with his latest performances anything to go by, he could be shown the door at the helm especially after requesting a new contract.
A host of top stars have been linked with United's iconic position, however James Rodriguez was seen as someone who could genuinely fit in the role.
FC Porto have been far from easy sellers and demand top dollar for their prized asset, something which has warded off most clubs, with Ferguson now following suit.
“As far as James Rodriguez is concerned, I hope it's not true because it costs a fortune to get a player from Porto!" the former Aberdeen boss was quoted as saying to the media in the build-up for Braga’s UEFA Champions League visit.
Meanwhile, disharmony in the tactician’s own squad seems to have been eradicated, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173 becoming an isolated figure at the Theatre of Dreams following his decision to snub Anti-Racism shirts before the game.
However, Ferguson, being one of the best man-managers out there has talked the scenario over with the player and now claims that the centre-back could be offered an extension on his contract.
“The issue is resolved. [Its] important he [Ferdinand] airs his grievances to the right people through the PFA [Professional Footballers' Association] or the FA [Football Association]. His experience is important and there is no reason he can't stay on.
I didn't even realise his contract was up."
United do need new recruits considering their backline problems, but with Ashley Young and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Giggs-c31985 still proving to be adequate on the left, there is no need for immediate change as of yet.
However, nothing is certain and a transfer still might arise when the January window opens.
