Manchester United’s coach Sir Alex Ferguson says that the terrible defeat in the match against West Ham United, with a huge margin of four goals to none was truly devastating for him.
A huge defeat by the West Ham United was no doubt very disappointing and shocking for Alex Ferguson as his team has performed brilliantly well so far in the Championships League. It is also to be notified that the recent defeat is being considered as the
worst trounce for United since 2001.
In a very recent interview Sir Alex Ferguson expressed his thoughts to the media in a state of despair. He said that he is shocked to see the crumbled defence by his team and he was not expecting a defeat by such a huge score margin. He continued and said that
he was not expecting such a nominal performance from his team.
It was certainly a very unlucky day for the Manchester United as its stars like Ryan Giggs and Darren Fletcher, failed to put up a decent show. On the other hand Jonathan Spector and Carlton Cole of the West Ham United showed a brilliant game of football and
thrashed two goals each.
Jonathan Spector’s performance in the match remained dominant. Victor Obinna created chances for the attackers and played a very important role in the game. The match got in to a very interesting phase when Obinna hit the ball towards the striker. Spector was
clearly on the offside while receiving the ball but the referee ignored the foul of Spector, which later turned into a goal.
The Scot, Alex Ferguson seemed pretty upset and angry about the matter as well. While talking to the media he said that it was a clear offside but the referee ignorance dragged the game away from United. He added that the home crowd was truly backing its
team and the West Ham players were more motivated in the match as compared to them.
The recent defeat has put an end to Manchester United’s twenty nine matches uncrushed run. The fact is no doubt pretty harsh and discouraging for the Club’s manager. While talking about the matter the Scot said that he was not expecting such a terrible performance
from his team and the defensive strategy seemed worthless in the match.
Ferguson said that the defence of the team remained poor throughout the match and United players created some easy chances for the opponent team. He added that he is satisfied with the way his team has performed especially in the second half of the match. Sir
Alex continued and said that the day was unfortunate for them as Giggs and Fletcher failed to find the goal.
On the other hand the assistant boss of the Manchester United football team Mike Phelan also admitted the fact that the defence of the team was very poor in the match. He said that the defenders should take the defeat positively and try to improve their performance.
He added that it was lesson for the defenders to learn and he is very hopeful that the players will show a better game in the upcoming matches of the team. Phelan said West Ham displayed better game than the United and it was a very well-deserving victory
for them.
Mike Phelan said that defeats are learning lessons and it is very important for us to learn as quickly as we can and he is confident that the players will try their level-best to perform comparatively better in further matches.
