Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel hope to redeem themselves at European Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Two-time Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso and the current world champion Sebastian Vettel are hoping for some redemption this weekend at the European Grand Prix.
Vettel finished in 2nd place at the last grand prix which took place in Canada while Alonso retired and finished pointless.
The reigning world champion had a pretty decent winning streak since the past three races and he was looking good until the last couple of laps of the race but Jenson Button took the advantage when Vettel lost control of his car in the last lap of the race
and won the grand prix.
Alonso on the other hand had a disastrous weekend as he crashed out of the race but both of the drivers are hoping of getting back on track once again at the upcoming European Grand Prix.
“At the last two races we showed we were clearly capable of winning. Now we go to a track with reasonably similar characteristics to Montreal and there is no obvious reason why we should not be competitive here, too,” said the Spaniard.
Keeping in mind that Fernando Alonso is now 92 points adrift of the current championship leader Sebastian Vettel, Ferrari have recently announced that they are going to try their best to catch up with Red Bull Racing Team and McLaren at the next three races
of the season until the end of July 2011.
In case they fail to do so, Ferrari are going to shift focus to their 2012 car and probably not compete for the titles as competitively as they are competing right now.
Sebastian Vettel on the other hand is going through a completely different patch as he is dominating the season. He has secured 5 race wins out of 7 with the help of 6 pole positions.
However, things might change until the British Grand Prix as the blown diffusers will be banned starting from the race and it might affect Red Bull Racing Team’s performance drastically.
