Fernando Alonso, “The Best Driver of 2010 Season” for all the Team Principals
Even after having lost the championship of 2010 Formula One season, the brilliance and talent of Fernando Alonso, keeps bringing pride to his team, Ferrari. This time it is the title of ‘The Best Driver of the 2010 Season’ that he has received by the voting
of all the twelve team principals of the sport.
Although the end of the year brought a lot of disappointment to the driver and for the team yet this season will surely be remembered by everybody for a very long time. The season started off very dull for the team as they were not able to bag a single race
win after the season opener in Bahrain. However, after a lulled mid season the Italian squad came back to the forefront with a loud roar. One after the other races Alonso kept on grabbing podiums and victories, finally elevating himself from his initial fifth
place to the top of the points’ tally.
Although the season decider, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix hit the Spaniard with a hard luck badly as the driver got stuck behind the Renault driver Vitaly Petrov, and had to follow him for the rest of the 40 laps. This not only made him lose victory at the last
race of the season but also made him give up the hopes of the third championship of his career. Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull won the race while the Ferrari driver was not able to finish even at fourth place, minimum required to bag the championship.
However, this makes the driver no less prestigious and worthy in the eyes of all the team principals. Earlier this week he has been voted the best driver all through the season even though Vettel stood out at the end of the year with more points while Hamilton
and Webber stayed at the top of the points’ tally for a larger period.
The survey for season’s best driver was carried out after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix while the results were announced only yesterday (Wednesday). At the pole Vettel stood at second place as he received nine marks lesser than his strongest competitor, Alonso.
As the results were declared the happy driver stated, “I am very pleased to learn that the majority of team principals chose me as their best driver of the year, even if it goes without saying that I would have preferred to receive that accolade in the guise
of world champion. It is yet another reason to claim this has been an amazing season, despite the disappointment at the final hurdle.”
The driver continued saying, “The team and I fought all the way to the very end, without ever giving up, even when it all seemed like a lost cause: we staged a remarkable comeback. Next year, we will be looking to do better, but I will still remember 2010
as a wonderful year.”

Even though the Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali is still striving to digest the fact that the championship slipped out of their hands so dramatically, yet he expressed a lot of joy for Alonso’s achievement. He commented saying that he is proud of
his driver as he gave a fantastic season to the team. He further explained saying that the driver is immensely talented which he thinks is not secret for anybody.
Domenicali, concluded saying on behalf of everyone at Ferrari, that working with the 2-time World Champion was an absolute honour for all of them. He believes that the next season will be even better for both the team drivers, Alonso and Felipe Massa as
Ferrari is hoping a far more competitive car next year.
