Fernando Alonso: Ferrari never give up – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has said that he earnestly admires his team’s quality to never give up at any cost.
Moreover, he feels great on his return to the factory of the Scarlet team in Maranello after taking a tremendous victory in 2012 Malaysian Grand Prix held at Sepang International Circuit on Sunday.
The Spaniard said that he felt extremely pleased at his arrival in the factory where everyone is having a smile on their faces and an ultimate desire to work as hard as possible to make the necessary developments in the car and to improve the overall performance
of the team in the normal conditions for the races ahead.
Furthermore, he said that during the second GP he thought of winning after his last pit stop.
Nevertheless, he admitted that Sergio Perez of Sauber, who secured the second podium finish at Sepang after showing a remarkable drive on wet track, was very fast during the race.
Besides, he said that none of his friends believed that he will win the second race as they were struggling with their car and lack competitiveness this year, which was quite a pity.
However, he said that all his friends were extremely delighted with his performance afterwards.
Alonso is now leading the drivers’ championship with 35 points after finishing at fifth place in the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia and securing the first podium in the second GP.
Nonetheless, he said that the triumph at Sepang has changed nothing for the Red team as they still have plenty of work to do in order to make the essential preparations and the significant enhancements in the car’s pace for the upcoming races.
Ferrari is currently at third place in the constructors’ championship. Moreover, Alonso’ teammate Felipe Massa has faced immense distress in the first two races of the season as he could not perform well.
However, the team principal, Stefano Domenicali said that they are ready to provide everything to the Brazilian driver, in order to improve his performance for the races ahead.
In addition, Massa also changed his plan of going home to see his family as he headed towards Maranello to work with the team engineers where he will identity his mistakes in the last two races and to will take the necessary steps to enhance his performance.
