Fernando Alonso: Lewis Hamilton probably the fastest driver in Formula 1
Ferrari driver, Fernando Alonso talked to the reporters earlier today giving a fascinating insight into how he thinks about some of the top racers on the 2011 Formula 1 grid.
The Ferrari driver was asked about his rivals including the reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel, the Red Bull driver Mark Webber, the 2009 world champion Jenson Button, the seven-time world champ Michael Schumacher, the 2008
title winner Lewis Hamilton and his own team-mate Felipe Massa.
When asked about the youngest world champion ever in the sport, Vettel, Alonso told the media, ‘Very fast and precise.’ The Spaniard believes that if during a race the German has decided to win, nothing can stop him.
When asked about the other Red Bull driver, Webber, Alonso explained the driver’s personality as, "experienced, calm and very consistent.” He believes that Webber races with all his concentration and one can rarely see him fail
out of his own error.
According to Alonso, Jenson Button is a man with exceptional skills for racing in rain or during the safety car period. “This is a unique talent," he added.
Alonso, who earlier this month named Schumacher as the toughest competitor for the upcoming season, said about him once again that "he is the champion… he is a driver always capable of surprising". He further stated that everyone
in the racing world respects the racing icon immensely.
When asked about his team-mate, Massa, the 29-year-old replied that the Brazilian is one of the quickest racers on the grid. He further added that Massa “knows the team and is very hungry to win".
Although the Spanish driver praised almost all the fore-runners, but amongst all the highest praises went for his former team-mate, Lewis Hamilton. While explaining the talent of the British racer, Alonso said, "He is a great driver
and maybe the fastest at the moment in Formula 1."
The 2011 Formula 1 grid is the most exciting one prepared in years. With five world champions and other great racers like Massa and Webber, a very tough competition is expected to take place this year.
