Fernando Alonso Shines Again on the circuit
Two-time Monaco winner Fernando Alonso Díaz is a well-known name in the Formula 1 circuit and a major chunk of the fans will be praying for his success in Monte Carlo. Only on Thursday, both the practice runs for Alonso went according to the script as he secured the top position. It only took the master driver 1 minute and 15:927 seconds for him to cruise through the course during the practice lap. Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel took 0.073 seconds more than Alonso to finish the qualifying round at second position. After sweeping past his rivals, Alonso declared that his only aim was to understand how the tyres worked and he wanted to get confident with the circuit.
He commented that on this course, trusting ones driving was essential in order to get a clear advantage over the rest of the pack. Alonso has worked hard on developing a comfort zone with his car by making it easy to drive. Despite the early success at Monte Carlo, Alonso claimed that more hard work is required to improve further. He also hoped that the track conditions would get more favourable by Saturday. This is largely due to the plethora of cars that would come from categories in a few days time.
Let’s take a look at the life of Fernando Alonso Diaz. He was born on 29 July 1981 in Asturias, Spain. After his initial schooling, Formula One racing caught his eye which soon turned into an obsession. Currently, Alonso is racing for Ferrari who is ably supported by Felipe Massa as the second driver. Nicknamed El Nano, Alonso is two times World Drivers’ Championship winner. Owing to his star status, he is currently acting as the Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF.
On 25 September 2005, Fernando Alonso won the Formula 1 World Driver's Championship title at the age of 24 years and 58 days, breaking Emerson Fittipaldi's record of being the youngest Formula One World Champion. Lewis Hamilton broke Alonso’s record in 2008, when Hamilton won at the age of only 23 years and 301 days. Alonso snatched the World Drivers Champion title from Michael Schumacher, ending his five years reign.
The year 2006 marked the 57th FIA Formula One World Championship season. It consisted of eighteen rounds, which began on March 12 and stretched till October 22. Fernando Alonso of Renault F1 produced a commendable performance once again and was able to hold The Drivers' Championship for the second year in a row. It won him another title of being the youngest ever double World Champion. Michael Schumacher of Scuderia Ferrari finished at the second position but retired from international racing in the same year. This season highlighted the rivalry between Alonso and Schumacher, who succeeded in seven races each.
Renault and Ferrari drivers conquered the field, winning all but one race. In 2007, he stood as the second F1 driver to score at least 100 points for three consecutive seasons. He was second only to Michael Schumacher. The Car numbering eight has become his identity on the circuit and Alonso has always been able to glue the fans’ to his performances. So far, he has won twenty-two wins to his record with a total of 644 career points. He participated in a hundred and forty five races out of which Alonso finished 14 laps faster than the others.
All eyes are on the Monaco Grand Prix at the Circuit de Monaco in Monte Carlo. The race will be starting this Sunday on the 16th of May at 1300 BST. The race will consist of 75 race laps. Ayrton Senna, who is known as the King of Monaco, he once said that the course at Monaco demands a lot of concentration and immense energy. He went on to say that all you can see are the trimmed roads, the barriers, the tall walls and the wheels. Fernando Alonso is expected to come out victorious after his marvellous performance in the practice sessions. Last year, Jenson Button stood as the man finishing the circuit as the fastest driver, becoming the 2009 Winner. There are only two more days to go before we witness the next winner.
