Fernando Alonso aims to prepare for 2013 championship – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has said that he is aiming to make the essential preparation for the 2013 Formula 1 World Championship in the next few weeks.
Alonso is not going to take part in the first pre-season test which is going to be held at Jerez circuit. However, he has said that he will follow all the information with great interest which his teammate, Felipe Massa and their test driver Pedro de la
Rosa will gather during the test.
In addition, he expressed that he is earnestly looking forward to start his preparations for this year’s championship fight. Besides, he said that he will be ready to take part in the second test when their car F138 will be closer to the race specifications.
“I will follow the test with great interest and of course I will be looking at all the information that comes back from Jerez,” he said. “In these last few weeks and in the next few weeks I will certainly be concentrating on preparing for the championship.”
“We were very busy in December and I was very much involved with the car in January up until a week ago, so I think it's right to step back and prepare a bit so that I'm 100% from Australia right through to Brazil,” he added.
It will be important to mention that the Spaniard performed incredibly well throughout the last season. Although, the Scarlet team struggled a lot with the design of their car during the pre-season testing programme, however, the two-time world champion
successfully limited the damage for his team and fought for the title until the very end of the season.
The 31-year-old had a tough competition with Red Bull Racing’s Sebastian Vettel who performed tremendously well during the last few races with the fastest car in the field and claimed the title after securing 6th place finish in the epic season
finale held at Interlagos in Brazil. In addition, Vettel was just 3 points ahead of Alonso in the championship fight at the end of the season.
Let’s see whether Alonso will be able to win the title in this year’s championship or not.
