Fernando Alonso backs up Felipe Massa and Stefano Domenicali – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has shown support for his teammate, Felipe Massa and the team principal, Stefano Domenicali regardless of facing difficulties in the start of 2012 Formula 1 season.
The Brazilian driver has been struggling with his pace in the season until now as he has only been able to score 2 points in the fourth race held at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir.
Moreover, he has been facing immense criticism over his poor performance and there were many speculations regarding his replacement with Sergio Perez of Sauber-Ferrari who secured an impressive second podium finish in the second race at Sepang International
Circuit in Malaysia.
However, the Italian team expressed that they are ready to provide Massa with everything which he will need to improve his performance in the season ahead.
On the other hand, Perez also showed his commitment with his current team for this season.
Nevertheless, the Spaniard backed up Massa and said, “He's one of the best drivers in the world, and he has shown it during his whole career. It's easy to praise when you have a good car but also to criticise when you have a bad one.”
He added that he had seen the same kind of circumstances during his last spell with Renault during which some of his teammates were criticised unjustly, who are being admired now.
In addition, he also supported Domenicali as a response to a suggestion that someone like Flavio Briatore, the former chief of Renault, if given the charge, can provide benefit to the Scarlet team.
“Stefano's work is fantastic in every sense and I can't think of anyone better than him,” he said. “As I explained before, it only takes one race to pass from criticism to praise. I'm very good friends with Flavio and we talk frequently. He's one of the
most intelligent people I've ever met.”
Over and above, even after facing problems in the pre-season testing and the start of the season, Ferrari have been trying to make the substantial developments and the significant preparations to enhance the pace of F2012 for the approaching races so as
to make their position stronger to fight for the championship title.
