Fernando Alonso breaks silence to back Ferrari – Formula 1 news
Fernando Alonso finally breaks his silence imposition in order to back his team and the staff back at the Ferrari’s factory.
Alonso also said that they need to make improvements before the start of the first race at Melbourne, Australia on March 18, 2012.
Pat Fry, the technical director of Ferrari had expressed on the final day of the last test at Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona that the new car F2012 was not ready to fight for the podium positions in the first few Grands Prix.
Furthermore, the team imposed restriction on its drivers to speak in front of the press after the end of the last pre-season test at Barcelona.
However, Alonso offered to give the team an encouraging feel for the upcoming season after the assertions of Fry on the last day of the final test regarding the team’s stance in the first few races.
“Above all I want to thank you all [the staff] for the work you've done. These were some very intense months and weeks and I know that you’re giving it your all, that you're working 24/7 on the track and here at the [factory] to provide me and Felipe with
a strong car,” he told the Ferrari website.
The Spaniard said that there had been a lot of discussions regarding the performance of the team in the forthcoming season but at this point in time, nothing can be brought to reality. For instance, he said that there had been a lot of talks regarding the
domination of Red Bull Racing but the defending champions ended last on the timesheets at the end of the final day of the last test while completing only few laps as compared to its contenders.
Moreover, he said that if anything like Red Bull had happened to Ferrari, they would have faced immense pressure but in this case, nobody noticed.
Furthermore, he said that he would like to remind the last test at Barcelona, two years ago, where they were in fifth position after Red Bull, McLaren, Sauber and Force India and just two weeks later in Bahrain Grand Prix, they managed one-two win.
