Fernando Alonso calls Ferrari an almost perfect team – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has said that they are almost the perfect team regardless of struggling to develop a car which can help in fighting for consistent victories.
“I have no doubt. As external factors go, we are by now an almost perfect team,” Alonso told Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview.
In addition, he said that the mistakes which they have committed in the past have made them stronger as a team.
“It's like walking on a tight rope at 30 metres above ground, you can never make mistakes. If you hit a curb in Q1, you're out. Same goes in Q2 if a wheel locks in a turn. But all this makes the team stronger. The mistakes we made in 2010 and 2011 with strategy,
pit stops, and driver errors haven't happened anymore,” he said.
The Spaniard is presently at fifth position in the drivers’ championship with 43 points ahead of the German driver, Nico Rosberg of Mercedes AMG.
In the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia he showed an impressive performance as he secured fifth place finish even after from 12thposition in the grid.
Furthermore, he took his first victory of this season in the second race at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia with an amazing performance in rainy conditions.
However, in the third race at Shanghai International Circuit in China he could only secure ninth place finish while came 7th in the fourth race at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir.
At present, the Scarlet team is at fourth position in the constructors’ championship with 45 points ahead of the Brackley based team.
Besides, they have been planning to introduce some major updates in F2012 for the European season ahead. Moreover, they are looking forward to make the necessary evaluations of some of the upgrades in the in-season test at Mugello so as to improve the pace
of the car for 2012 Spanish Grand Prix.
Ferrari have been trying their best to make the essential developments and the significant preparations in order to enhance their pace in the races ahead. The Italian team has performed quite convincingly in the season until now and can surely be considered
as one of the strongest contenders for this year’s championship title.
