Fernando Alonso claims he has a 25 percent chance of winning German Grand Prix in dry conditions
Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso recently stated after securing the 4th place on the grid for the 2011 German Grand Prix that he has a 25 percent chance of winning the race in dry conditions.
Alonso is going to start the race from row two alongside Sebastian Vettel and it seems that the race start is going to be quite important for the first two rows.
Mark Webber is going to start the race from 1st place on the grid alongside Lewis Hamilton in row 1 as a result of which the start is going to be quite exhilarating for the fans at the legendary Nurburgring circuit.
“I am happy with my lap and with the result and anyway, this year we have seen that we have always gone better in the race than in qualifying. Let's see what the weather will do tomorrow, as rain is forecast. If it turned out to be dry, then we can claim
to have a 25% chance of winning and a bit less if it rains, but only because so far, in the wet others have been better than us,” he said.
He added that the team is going to evaluate the situation first before coming up with a good race strategy since it is believed that the weather is going to be quite unpredictable at the Nurburgring this weekend.
Other than that, he revealed that the team has been introducing some upgrades quite successfully up until now as a result of which their performance has been improving as well. Therefore, the Spaniard believes that his team will keep working on its car and
probably make it as fast as the top running teams.
“We are neither surprised nor disappointed, quite the contrary in fact. This grid is more or less what we could have expected from what we had seen in free practice yesterday,” said the two-time Formula 1 world champion.
Ferrari secured their first victory of the season at the British Grand Prix and they are looking very competitive for this weekend as well. Since McLaren scored a good result during qualifying, it seems that the teams are going to be quite close this weekend.
