Fernando Alonso claims victory in 2012 German Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has claimed an amazing victory in 2012 German Grand Prix after an intense fight with Jenson Button of McLaren.
Alonso secured an incredible pole position for the German GP and completely dominated the race right from the lights to the flag. He was followed by Button who was overtaken by Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing during the second last lap. However, the veteran German driver faced a post-race penalty for the illegal pass and was relegated to 5th position behind the Briton, Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus and Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber.
Moreover, Kobayashi’s teammate, Sergio Perez delivered a remarkable performance and secured 6th place finish after setting off from the 17th grid position. The Mexican driver was followed by Michael Schumacher of Mercedes who struggled with the issue of tyre degradation and could not covert his competitive 3rd grid slot into a podium finish.
The seven-time world champion was followed by Mark Webber of Red Bull who came 8th after facing five-place grid penalty for his unscheduled gearbox change before the qualifying.
The Australian driver stayed ahead of Nico Hulkenberg of Force India who secured 9th position after taking a start from 4th place in the grid.
Hulkenberg was followed by Nico Rosberg of Mercedes who showed an inspiring performance and secured 10th place finish after beginning from 21st grid position.
Paul di Resta of Force India could not score even a single point as he faced difficulties in finding his true pace during the race and came 11th in the charts. He remained ahead of Felipe Massa of Ferrari who was further followed by Toro Rosso pair of drivers, Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne.
Pastor Maldonado of Williams could not pocket any points even after starting from 5th grid position and came 15th in the timesheets. The Venezuelan driver was followed by Vitaly Petrov of Caterham who stayed ahead of Maldonado’s teammate, Bruno Senna.
Moreover, the Brazilian driver was followed by Romain Grosjean of Lotus who was further followed by Heikki Kovalainen of Caterham.
Over and above, Charles Pic of Marussia came 20th and stayed ahead of Pedro de la Rosa of HRT who was further followed by Pic’s teammate, Timo Glock.
It will be important to mention that although Lewis Hamilton of McLaren took a convincing start but he struggled with a puncture and eventually retired after 56 laps as he faced some issues in the rear wing of his car.
