Fernando Alonso dismisses rumours linking him with Red Bull Racing – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has completely discharged all the rumours linking him with Red Bull Racing for the next season and expressed that he is very happy at the Scarlet team.
Mark Webber of Red Bull is going to retire from the F1 at the end of this season and the Milton Keynes based team is currently searching for a potential replacement of the Australian driver to accompany Sebastian Vettel from the next year onwards. Many drivers
including, Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus and Daniel Ricciardo of Toro Rosso, have been included in the list of potential candidates to replace the Aussie in the next season. Moreover, recently the Spaniard has also been linked with the defending champions.
However, the two-time world champion has completely dismissed all the ongoing speculations and stated that he is very happy at Ferrari and is looking forward to stay there in the future. In addition, he said that they need to make some essential developments
in order to improve the pace of their car so as to make their position stronger in this year’s championship fight. Besides, he stated that he is hoping for a quiet summer break in this season.
“I'm very happy,” Alonso said. “Of course we need to improve the car if we are going to have chances to win the world championship.”
“Always with four weeks with no Formula One it's a very dangerous period for [the media] so hopefully we will have a quiet summer,” he said.
He also said that they need to work hard to find the right solution for their tyre degradation issue in order to be able to perform well in the season ahead.
“I think we need to look at the details. It's true that with degradation we have been historically good, but we saw on Friday's long runs that we were not very competitive here. We had some doubts, we changed some things today which did not improve the situation
too much,” he added.
Presently, he is standing at third place in the drivers’ championship with 133 points. It will be exciting to see how he performs in the season ahead.
