Fernando Alonso does not fear Sebastian Vettel
The 2-time world champion Fernando Alonso recently stated that even if the 2010 Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel joins him in Ferrari, he would not be afraid of him at all.
Sebastian Vettel recently stated that he dreams of driving for Ferrari soon as he wants to drive for a more reliable team than Red Bull. Red Bull Racing Team became a part of Formula 1 just 6 years ago and quite obviously, they are not as
reliable and consistent as McLaren or Ferrari has been since almost 50 years.
Both Ferrari and McLaren are the most well established teams of the sport and most of the drivers dream for a drive in either McLaren or Ferrari. Red Bull has proved that it has the pace, but the team still has to prove that they are consistent
and have the ability to perform up to the mark year after year.
Since Sebastian was able to secure both constructors’ and drivers’ title for his team in 2010, Ferrari obviously had to respond to the young German’s statement and as a result, Luca di Montezemolo, the owner of Ferrari stated a couple of days
ago that he would love to see Sebastian Vettel in Ferrari’s red outfit sometime soon.
After these recent developments, many believed that Fernando Alonso might have some competition alongside him and the team might chose the 2010 champion over Fernando. However, the Spaniard recently stated that he doesn’t have a problem with
Sebastian joining Ferrari anytime soon.
“I don’t have anything in particular to say on the matter, but I am not afraid of any teammate, because I’ve never been frightened. None of my teammates has ever won even a single point more than me, so I don’t see why I should be frightened
of anyone,” stated Fernando.
He added that he has never finished a single point below his teammate throughout his career and has not been afraid of his teammates since he joined the sport back in 2001. However, Fernando is optimistic about the 2011 Formula 1 season and
he believes that Ferrari has a great chance of winning the titles next season.
“I have no doubt about the fact that I’ll have precisely the car of my desires next season. Ferrari has to aim to win the World Championship because of the team’s historical prestige,” said the 2-time world champion.
