Fernando Alonso feels Ferrari has to improve their performance level – Formula 1 Update
Formula 1 Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has recently updated the media that the team has to improve their performance level after the disappointing start to the 2011 Formula 1 season, in Melbourne last week. Alonso also mentioned that there will be plenty
to come from his team, as he wants to retain Ferrari’s previous position in Formula 1.
The Ferrari squad was believed to be one of the favourites to compete for victory in the season opening race following a very strong and tough tests series of 2011.
The team was not competitive enough to compete with McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton and Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel for their initial success. However, the two-time world champion finished in fourth place in the Australian race and said that their performance was
disappointing for the team. At the end of the race, he admitted that he is confident for his Ferrari team to take a significant step forward to their success.
With regards to the upcoming Sepang race, Alonso said, “We will have a few minor updates on the car, but nothing very significant or the sort of thing you could say would be the key to take a leap forward in performance terms. I believe we must stay concentrated
on our own work and try to understand how to get all the potential out of the 150° Italia and I am sure there's plenty to come.”
The Spaniard also discussed the conditions at Malaysia and said that the unpredictable weather changes in Sepang can make the grand prix weekend somewhat stressful for all the Formula 1 teams. He further added, "Suddenly it can go from sunshine to a short
sharp shower and you need to be prepared for every eventuality. It's not just a problem for us drivers, as its affects the whole team: in some cases you need to be ready with a plan B or C or even maybe a D for all the various scenarios."
Ferrari is expected to put in an excellent performance in the Sepang race that will take place on 10 April, at the Malaysian circuit.
