Fernando Alonso feels Ferrari now much stronger ahead of the Canadian GP – Formula 1 news
Ferrari continues to show its impressive improvement in the season as Fernando Alonso made the podium at the Canadian GP qualifiers.
Alonso said that he was happy with the way things had gone for him over the weekend so far. The car has proved to be competitive on a track which is not the best fit for the Ferrari car. The updates have definitely proved to be the difference and have been
successful.
The updates have given confidence to the drivers for the race on Sunday and the season ahead. The Spaniard added that he remembers where the team stood in Australia and now that the team is fighting for a pole position, it shows that the team has done well
so far.
The season has been very competitive with six different winners out of six Grands Prix completed so far, so it is certainly an achievement to be in a position where Ferrari is at the moment. Alonso won the Malaysian GP but struggled in next two races as
the Ferrari car was clearly not as competitive as the leaders of the board.
Ever since Ferrari introduced its updates it has shown drastic change in fortunes and Alonso will certainly be fighting for the win at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit on Sunday.
Felipe Massa has finally started to look better as well. The Brazilian has had a horrid season because of the car but now even he seems to be improving with the latest updates introduced. Massa finished sixth in the qualifiers.
Talking about the race Alonso said, “Races here are always unpredictable, but for sure it would be very nice to give all the Canadian Ferrari fans a nice result in the thirtieth anniversary year of the death of Gilles Villeneuve. Italy and Spain in the European
football? We haven't spoken about it yet with the team but, if we win, then maybe I might find there are not too many people on hand to change my tyres at the pit stop….!”
It will be interesting to see how Ferrari fare during the race at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit on Sunday.
