Fernando Alonso feels pleased with his performance in the season so far – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso says that he is feeling pleased with his performance in the 2012 Formula 1 season so far.
Alonso is presently leading the drivers’ championship with 129 points and believes that he has learnt a lot from his mistakes which is continuously helping him in improving his pace. Moreover, he expressed that he hopes to see further improvements in his performance in the next season.
“You're a better driver every year because you improve from mistakes. You learn constantly in Formula One and I'm sure next year will be better. It's true also that the factors in play in this championship so far have been good for us. I remember a mistake in Q2 in Australia when I touched the grass in turn one and I spun, apart from that mistake I probably wouldn't change too many things about what I've done so far, which is good news because there are always mistakes here and there so I'm quite pleased with my performance,” he said.
The Spaniard has performed incredibly well in the season until now. He secured an inspiring fifth place finish in the season opener which was held at Albert Park in Melbourne after taking a start from 12th grid slot.
Later, in the second race at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, he claimed a remarkable victory after setting off from the 8th grid position. Afterwards, he struggled in the next two races and could only secure 9th and 7th place finishes.
Nonetheless, he strike back well in the Spanish GP at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona and secured an impressive second podium finish.
Later on, he again delivered a notable performance in the Monaco GP at Circuit de Monaco in Monte Carlo and secured third podium finish. Furthermore, he struggled with the tyre degradation issue and came 5th in the Canadian GP at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal even after beginning from the third grid position.
Nevertheless, he came back strong in his home race at Valencia Street Circuit in Spain and claimed an amazing victory.
Over and above, he secured second podium finish in the British GP at Silverstone Circuit and it will be interesting to see how the two-time world champion performs in the forthcoming races.
