Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has expressed that he is feeling satisfied after the free Friday practice of the 2013 German Grand Prix despite his limited run in
the first session.
Alonso performed convincingly well in the second free practice session at Nurburgring and set the sixth best lap time of 1 minute and 31.056 seconds. He completed
39 laps and made a reasonable recovery after his limited run in FP1.
The Spaniard said that everything went really well in the Friday practice and they successfully managed to gather some essential data to make the necessary evaluation
of their updates to perform well in the qualifying and the race. In addition, he said that they didn’t face any kind of problem regarding their tyres after which they are feeling really confident for the forthcoming race.
“Today went better than last Friday and even if there is still a long way to go, in general we seem to have made a step forward and returned to the level of competitiveness
which we had prior to Silverstone,” he said. “One of the positives was the behaviour of the tyres which worked well today and did not create any problems.”
Besides, he said that they are still behind Mercedes, Red Bull Racing and Lotus, therefore they must work hard to compete well in the approaching race.
“That halved our work programme and this evening we will have to do all we can to make up for it, but we already have an idea of where and how to make changes,
because Mercedes, Red Bull and Lotus are ahead of,” he added.
It will be important to mention that the two-time world champion pulled very early in the morning session because of a problem in his car’s ECU. Nevertheless, he
has stated that he is feeling positive for this weekend’s race after a strong run in FP2.
Presently, he is standing at second place in the drivers’ championship with 111 points. Let’s see how he performs in the German GP and whether he will be able to
