Fernando Alonso gets done with his final seating for the 2011 Ferrari car
Fernando Alonso had a great 2010 Formula 1 season: he finished in 2nd
place in the drivers’ standings, but he was not satisfied with the finish as he believes that he should have won the title as he led the drivers’ standings until the very last race in Abu Dhabi. He lost his lead to Sebastian Vettel as he won the race
and Fernando was unable to finish with a sufficient amount of points as he finished in 7th place behind Vitaly Petrov.
However, Alonso is hoping for better results in 2011 as he believes that their new car is going to be much better as compared to their 2010 car and they will be quite competitive this time. Fernando was in Maranello for the final
seat fitting in for his new Ferrari which is being referred to as “288 chassis” as a codename. This means that this is not the actual chassis designation.
Ferrari’s technical director Aldo Costa, chief designer Nikolas Tombazis and Fernando Alonso’s race engineer Andrea Stella joined the Spaniard during this development and discussed the latest developments and upgrades on the new
car.
Ferrari are expected to launch their new car on 28th January during their annual media event “Wrooom” and it is believed that they will be the first of the top running teams to reveal their 2011 Formula 1 car.
McLaren is expected to be the last of the top running teams to launch their new car as they announced that unlike most of the teams, they will not use their 2011 car at the first pre-season test session. Instead, they will reveal
the MP4-26 on the 4th of February after the first test session in Valencia is over. It is expected that they will launch their new car in Berlin.
On the other hand, Red Bull Racing Team will launch their new car at the first pre-season test session in Valencia. It would be interesting to see what the three top running teams come up with for the 2011 Formula 1 season especially
because of the fact that there will be a lot of rule changes. The teams will now be allowed to use movable rear wings and KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System).
Nevertheless, Ferrari is aiming for nothing less than the titles (both drivers’ and constructors’) this time and it would be interesting to see how they perform at the pre-season test sessions as compared to their rivals.
