Fernando Alonso hopes to repeat 2010 performance at 2011 Singapore Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso hopes to repeat his 2010 performance at the upcoming 2011 Singapore Grand Prix, which will take place on September 25 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Ferrari have won twice at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in the past. They managed their race victories in 2008 and 2010 and in 2009, they finished their Singapore race on the third stair of the podium. However, Alonso is looking forward to getting a third
race victory for his team in the 2011 Singapore race weekend.
The Maranello-based outfit driver said that he is sure that the Marina Bay Street Circuit will be suitable for their car during the race this weekend. The Spaniard added that the Singapore circuit is slightly similar to the Monaco track and that they were
better in terms of performance in the 2011 Monaco Grand Prix.
Alonso commented, “I have always managed to make the podium in the three previous editions and my objective is to make it four out of four. A third victory to go with those of 2008 and last year would clearly be fantastic but I know that it will be very
hard.”
He went on to mention, “At Monaco we certainly came very close to victory - without the final red flag I think I would have had an excellent chance to overtake Sebastian – but it's also true that you can't always guarantee that things go the same way.”
The 30-year-old driver further stated that he believes they have the best chance to perform well in the Singapore Grand Prix this weekend, as they have 100 percent perfect setup of his car, tyres and teamwork at the moment.
Alonso successfully finished his 2011 Italian Grand Prix on the last stair of the podium. After that, he finished at the second place behind Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel with 172 points in the 2011 drivers’ championship.
The Ferrari driver is very hopeful of the last six rounds of the 2011 Formula 1 season, as he wants his best possible finish in the championship battle.
Let’s see whether Alonso manages a victory for Ferrari at the Marina Bay Street Circuit this weekend.
