Fernando Alonso hopes to score more points in 2013 – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso hopes to score few more points in the 2013 Formula 1 season after losing the championship battle by just 3 points this year.
Alonso performed tremendously well in this season as he attained remarkable results even with an incompetent car. Moreover, he faced unfortunate retirements in a couple of races due to which he lost some crucial points in the championship fight.
On the other hand, his main rival, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing had the most competitive car in the field during the last few races and claimed his third successive championship title after securing 6th place finish in the epic finale.
The Spaniard said that he has fought at his best until the end of the season and has learnt a lot from his struggles throughout the year.
“Ever since I've been at Ferrari, I think I have grown a lot, especially this last year. Before, the people had a more or less good opinion of me, but now I notice a whole different level of respect,” Alonso said.
The two-time world champion has been considered as one of the great drivers in the sport and he surely deserves to be called as one because of his accomplishments in his career so far.
Therefore, he is not feeling upset over his second position in this year’s drivers’ championship and is confidently looking forward to come up stronger in the next season. In addition, he praised his team for its relentless efforts during the season.
“And then, to be one of the greats of Formula 1, it's not enough to win titles, you must also tackle seasons like the one just ended. Next year? I hope to score three or four point more,” he said.
After the controversy regarding Vettel’s move in the Brazilian GP ended, Alonso said that he doesn’t care what German people think about him and is happy with the love and support of his fans.
“What I know is that people who see me in the streets hug me and call me gladiator or samurai,” he added.
It will be very exciting to see how the 31-year-old performs in the coming year and whether he claims his third championship title or not.
