Fernando Alonso hoping for a good start to the 2012 Formula 1 season – Formula 1 news
Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso has recently stated that he is hoping for a good start to the 2012 Formula 1 season.
Ferrari have announced that they have shifted their focus to their 2012 car as the 2011 Formula 1 championship has already been secured by Red Bull Racing.
“Unfortunately this year is nearly gone, the Championship will be in Red Bull hands. We need to focus on next year, we need to be competitive from the first race of 2012. We are confident, we are Ferrari so we need to be competitive,” the Spaniard told reporters
at a Ferrari get together in Singapore.
Sebastian Vettel is currently leading the championship with over 100 points and if he wins the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix, he will secure the 2011 championship.
“This year has been too easy for him (Vettel) probably, because now six races before the end of the season he has the chance to win mathematically the Championship, so I expect next year much more competition,” said Alonso.
Ferrari have not been able to make a good start since the past 3 years in Formula 1 as a result of which they have not even proved to be as competitive as McLaren or Red Bull either.
It is quite disappointing to see their efforts going to a waste but this is how Formula 1 is and all the Italian team can do is work even harder and probably come up with something new like Red Bull have been doing since 2009.
Ferrari have been following the rest of the teams regarding development and they need to step out of the line now in order to dominate like they used to back in the early 2000s during Michael Schumacher’s five-year long championship reign in the sport with
the help of Ross Brawn.
