Fernando Alonso looks forward to a great season with his new car
The Ferrari driver, Fernando Alonso feels "really motivated" after unveiling the team’s 2011 car, F150. The driver told earlier today that the car seems competitive and Ferrari is ready to challenge any team on the track this season.
After having spent the 2010 season under the Italian team’s umbrella, Alonso believes that this season will be more exciting and will produce better results for him than the last one. He accepted the fact that the disappointment of losing last year’s title
is still not over. However, now as the team is heading for a new season, he wants to leave the past regrets behind him. He proclaimed that the 2011 season is a new beginning for the team, and he hopes to see all going great for this year.
The Italian squad lost the drivers’ championship of 2010 season only at the last race of the season, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Alonso stood at the top of the points’ tally as the Formula One caravan entered the Yas Marina track. However, a poor race strategy
that called the Spaniard for an early pit stop cost him his championship.
Now, as the team management inaugurated its next season’s package at Maranello, Italy, the team hopes not to repeat any mistakes of last year. Ferrari has been the first one to inaugurate the upcoming season’s car. Many of the other teams like Mercedes
GP and Sauber will unveil their cars later this week. Moreover, McLaren and Toro Rosso have announced to run the first pre-season practice with the last year’s interim version, while their 2011 cars will be brought forward soon after the first practice.
However, Ferrari is much happy with its early inauguration. While talking to the media at the launching ceremony earlier today, Alonso stated, “I’m really motivated, really excited. 2010 was an incredible year for me, first year with Ferrari and I discovered
a wonderful environment that’s really passionate for a driver.2011 will be an important moment with new challenges, with changes in the regulation and also the drivers have to adapt to the new driving style [created by Pirelli tyres] and the return of KERS,
for instance.”
He further added, “It will be a new year, a difficult year, we will have a lot to learn but I think that this new car you are seeing now is the fruit of the result of many months of work of our mechanics, our engineers and people working for Ferrari… We
are ready, we are up to the challenge.”
