Fernando Alonso not expecting any surprises at 2012 Chinese Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has said that he is not expecting any kind of surprises which will make the team more competitive at Chinese Grand Prix, to be held at Shanghai International Circuit on April 15, 2012.
The Spaniard, Alonso took an amazing victory in the second GP at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, in rainy conditions. Moreover, he secured a fifth place finish in the season opener at Albert Park in Melbourne after starting from 12th place in the
grid.
Even though, Alonso is leading the drivers’ championship so far but he expressed that they still need to improve their performance in the normal race conditions for the approaching season. Besides, he said that he doesn’t hope that anything more will come
up from his team in China as compared to the opening two races of the season.
Alonso said, “I'm not expecting any surprises in this race, compared to what we saw in Australia and Malaysia. It's true almost three weeks have gone by, but that does not mean there was enough time to completely turn the car around in such a short time:
we will have a few small updates, but nothing particularly significant and on top of that, we can expect that the other teams will also bring some new parts.”
In addition, he said that they need to keep their focus on performing at their best in the next race. He added that it is worthless to pass statements about their target finish in the race as they should focus on scoring as many points as they can in the
season ahead in order to be able to claim the title in the end.
“I don't want to come out with statements that our aim is to finish in this or that position, as these discussions are not worth the time spent on them,” added Alonso.
On the other hand, Alonso’s teammate, Felipe Massa is still struggling with his performance in the season until now.
Nonetheless, the Scarlet team is trying its best to make the necessary advancements and the significant preparations in order to improve the pace of F2012 for the upcoming races.
