Current championship leader Fernando Alonso of Ferrari has said that he is ready for the challenge put up by Lewis Hamilton of McLaren for the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit.
Alonso said the practice session results mean nothing as most of the teams are setting up their cars and trying to adjust to the track conditions according to their needs.
Even if Lewis Hamilton wins the Abu Dhabi grand prix this weekend, it would not affect Fernando Alonso much as long as he finishes in a decent place to secure his points lead over his three rivals.
Fernando’s championship run would be even more secure if Hamilton wins the race since the winner of the race scores 7 more points than the second place holder.
“Anyone who can take 25 points away from the Red Bulls is welcome,” Alonso said.
On the other hand, 7 time world champion Michael Schumacher has said that Lewis Hamilton could be a potential winner if the Red Bulls and Fernando Alonso take it easy on him.
“Everyone is focused, experienced and professional enough to handle the situation with an absolutely fair racing spirit.” said the 7 time world champion.
However, the legendary three time world champion Sir Jackie Stewart disagreed with Michael’s estimation.
“I find that a strange thing for Michael to say. I am completely behind Lewis in charging in there,” said Sir Jackie.
Nevertheless, it is going to be a tough race and definitely one of the most exhilarating and ground breaking races in the history of the sport as Fernando Alonso, Mark Webber, Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton battle it out for the eternal glory that is
the 2010 world championship.
