Fernando Alonso rubbishes all accusations, calls them plan to ‘divert attention’
The Ferrari driver, Fernando Alonso dismisses all the gossips that are going around him, calling them just a way ‘to divert attention’. The driver said earlier today that other teams are only trying to defocus him and he is not
concerned about what they have to say.
Only a while ago, he very openly stated that the other top teams, Red Bull and McLaren are only trying to defocus him instead of overcoming their own short comings. He continued telling that instead solving their own troubles,
his rivals have started playing psychological games in the media. However, he added that he has beaten them all up fairly in the past races and once again he would be heading for the real battle on the track, instead of playing with words on the media.
Alonso is currently leading the drivers’ championship with his 231 points being 11 points beyond his toughest rival of the season, Mark Webber. The last race of the season saw the Red Bull driver without any points. This not only
made him lose the top place in the tally but also his chances of the title have shrunk.
The Red Bull team boss Christian Horner, while looking at the tally, earlier this week commented that if Alonso bags the championship it would be very ‘frustrating’ for other teams. His statement pointed out the incident of German
GP where the team followed team orders, a forbidden thing in FIA. The team though got a penalty of US $ 100,000 however, no points were taken away from the team drivers.
While the Ferrari team principal, Stefano Domenicali shot back at the Red Bull team boss saying that the Austrian team had not been able to get the best advantage of the super speed car they had this year. He further added that
it was a "miracle" that Ferrari was still leading the charts though Red Bull should have already wrapped up the title with the pace they had.
However, Alonso completely dismissed the fight of words that has started between the two teams saying, "There are some favourite teams, who have not resolved their own problems, trying to divert attention. Fortunately for us, we
are united as a team, as we show at each race, including my relationship with Felipe [Massa]. There are always media strategies designed to make you nervous or put you under pressure."
He further continued telling, "In several countries they say my image is not good, but when I land at airports or go to the hotels or race tracks, what I see is the opposite.”
