Fernando Alonso says he is experiencing the best year of his F1 career – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso said that he is experiencing the best year of his career in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Alonso also mentioned that he feels much comfortable at Ferrari and that he wants to stay with them until his retirement from the sport.
The Spaniard told the media that the 2011 Formula 1 season makes him optimistic for his future. He stated that he is enjoying the ongoing season with the team and that he is leaning a lot of different things from each race.
Talking to reporters, the 30-year-old driver said, “For my part, it makes me feel even more privileged, because I am at Ferrari now and I will be for many years to come, at least to the end of 2016. I am very happy to have Felipe as a team-mate and we work
very well together.”
Alonso went on to mention, “But it would be very difficult to repeat what Michael did, because things are very different now to what they were a decade ago. If the day arrives when someone else was to come here, that would not be a problem for me, even if
it was Hamilton.”
The team driver is moving in the right direction since the last few races of the ongoing season. He was unable to perform well on the grid in the initial races of the season due to lack of his car’s pace.
After making progress in the last few races, Alonso admitted that now his 2011 car is competitive and can compete with their rivals in the second part of the ongoing season.
On the other hand, Ferrari principal Stefano Domenicali said he is hopeful the team’s second driver Felipe Massa will be able to match his race pace with his teammate Alonso in the rest of the season.
Massa is still not able to finish his race on the podium in the ongoing season, but he is making improvements in terms of performance race-by-race.
Let’s see how both of the drivers Alonso and Massa perform in the next round of the season, which will be held on August 28, 2011 in Belgium.
